Government To Find Billions

The Federal Government will need to find and extra 524 million euro to achieve its target of keeping the 2013 budget deficit below its target of 2.5%. Figures published by the Budget Monitoring committee on Thursday also reveal that a further 3.5 billion euro must be found if next year’s budget deficit targets are to be attained.

Electric Taxis Come To Brussels

From next spring 50 electric-powered taxis will be riding around on the streets Brussels. The capital will become the first city in Belgium with taxi powered by an electric motor rather than an internal combustion engine. The Brussels Transport Minister Brigitte Grouwels says that the taxis will improve the quality of life and reduce pollution.

Mini Europe Staying Put

The Mini-Europe attraction and the Océade bathing complex are to remain open at their current locations until the end of 2015. Previously it had been announced that they would close at the end of this summer.

Mickelson & Horschel Lead US Open

Phil Mickelson birdied the last to join fellow American Billy Horschel in a tie for a one-shot lead at the end of day two of the US Open at Merion. Mickelson hit 72 and Horschel fired a stunning three-under 67 to finish one under on a dry but difficult day
