Boy Dies After Shop Accident

A four-year-old boy has died after he was hit by a falling mirror at a designer outlet store. The youngster suffered serious head injuries in the accident, which happened in the Hugo Boss store at Bicester Village, a designer outlet centre in Oxfordshire, UK. He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, but died four days later.

Second Night In Hospital For Mandela

Former South African President Nelson Mandela has spent a second night in hospital where he is being treated for a lung infection. Doctors say there has been little change and his condition continues to be described as serious but stable.

Firearms Licence For All Guns in Belgium

The Belgian Justice Minister Annemie Turtelboom has abolished a list of firearms for which no licence was required. As a result a licence will be needed for the 680 different types of firearm that featured on the list. The list included firearms of historic value or of a decorative or folkloristic nature.

Serena Williams Makes History

World number one Serena Williams won a second French Open title with a convincing win over defending champion Maria Sharapova winning 6-4 6-4 in one hour and 46 minutes. Williams has now claimed 16 Grand Slam singles titles, moving her to within two of Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert, who have 18 each and she joins a short list of players to be double grand slam winners.
