Jewels stolen from a hotel at the start of the Cannes film festival…
A 7 figure value has been stated as being that which has been stolen in jewels from a hotel in Cannes, France. The jewels had been brought in to the area for celebrity use at the forthcoming world famous film festival. The home of the jewels, Chopard from Geneva, Switzerland, are reportedly stepping up security for replacements due to arrive in-time for endorsement by a number of celebrities.

Toronto, Canada – Mayor Rob Ford in crack cocaine scandal…
After 3 opportunities to address specifics about reports in the media to a video in which Mayor Ford appears to be smoking crack and uttering an anti-gay slur, Mayor Ford talked to reporters in his driveway, quietly and calmly saying that the allegations were “absolutely not true”. The matter continues.

Singer, George Michael, airlifted to hospital following traffic incident…
Friday evening, in the UK, singer Michael crashed his Range Rover on the M1 motorway in England, near St Albans. Michael has suffered a head injury, cuts and bruises, and is reported to be stable and recovering well after treatment.

New York, USA – Train crash, 60 injured, 5 critically…
Friday evening on a busy Friday evening, the train that left Grand Central en route to New Haven derailed and was then hit by another train in a head-on crash. The two commuter trains had some 250 people on the carriages, but fortunately, no fatalities have been reported.

Gay marriage bill legalised in France…
France’s President, Hollande, signs a controversial bill making the country the 8th in Europe, and the 14th globally, to legalise gay marriage. The first gay wedding could be held 10 days from the bill’s signing. The bill has been quickly challenged by the main right-wing opposition UMP party of former president Sarkozy.

Retired IT manager Nigel Clarke decided to spend around 6 months calling many numbers and working out what you needed to do to get through to the most commonly used services, and then wanted to share it with others! Caught short… what happens when you get locked out of your cockpit…
An Air India flight was forced to land after the pilot got locked out of the flight cockpit after taking a bathroom break according to the airline. The cockpit door jammed shut and the pilot couldn’t regain access. Flight AI403 was travelling to Bangalore from Delhi but ended up landing at Bhopal. Despite all efforts by the Co-Pilot inside and the Pilot outside the door just wouldn’t budge.
