The economic crisis is making us think twice about having children.

New baby births in Belgium are falling… rapidly. Not only is the infertility rate around double that of the rest of Europe, but, the economic crisis is being blamed also for the reduction on pregnancies across the country compared to the last survey in 2008. In Belgium apparently some 127,000 births are registered each year. The experts at EUROSTAT did not stop at providing this statistics, they also tried to identify causes, “Fertility generally follows economic cycles, declining during periods of recession, even though no scientific proof has yet established this fact.”
