A police officer has received hospital treatment after having stones thrown in his face. The incident occured on Boulevard Lemonnier on Monday evening after a police patrol became suspicious of a man selling clothes illegally.
As the officer began to question the man about his activities, the man threw stones directly at his face before fleeing the scene. An ambulance was called for the injured officer who was treated at the scene before being transported to hospital for further examination. On route to the hospital, stones were also thrown at the Ambulance on Avenue Stallingrad.
A person was detained at the scene of the second stoning incident and has been taken into custody for questioning. The injured police officer has been discharged from hospital and is taking time off to recover from his injuries.
