Minister bans unlicensed sales of bullet loaders

Koen Geens, the Belgian justice minister, has banned the unlicensed sales of bullet loaders. The firearm accessory, commonly used with automatic weapons such as machine guns, had until now been readily available with no restrictions.

Speaking to the De Tijd newspaper, Mr Geens said that his decision was influenced by a thriving black market for weapons across mainland Europe.  The parliamentary commission investigating the Brussels attacks has said in its report that illegal firearms were easy to come by in Belgium.

The new ban will mean that anyone wanting to buy a bullet loader must first show the licence for the appropriate weapon with which the magazine of clip can be used.
