On Friday night, hundreds of Turkish citizens gathered outside the Turkish embassy in Brussels to denounce the attempted military coup in their homeland.
“We’re here to support democracy,” a group of twenty-somethings from Willebroek explained to LeSoir. Turkish citizens came in support from all corners of Belgium: Antwerp, Brussels, Flemish Brabant, Limburg and elsewhere.
A number of police patrolled the outskirts of the protest as a precautionary measure, and nothing more. The rally passed peacefully.
