Xtra Fresh – Tim Qualls

Ever since the release of his debut 2010 EP, “This is Our Land”, Tim Qualls has been one of the Houston music scene’s fastest rising talents.

A mix of Indie Pop and Soul, Tim attributes his mixed musical genre to his attendance as a Sam Houston State music student and frequenter of open mics around Huntsville and Houston.

In 2008 Tim was the winner of Sam Houston State’s “Battle of the Bands” and most recently was the winner of 2010 Houston Press Music Awards “Best New Act”. In that same year he was also nominated for “Best Songwriter”, and “Best Male Vocalist”.

Tim’s highly anticipated third EP “Say You Love Me” was heavily influenced by Marvin Gaye and early 70s R&B music and it’s the title track from that EP that we have chosen as this weeks Xtra Fresh. Should we play it on Radio X? You decide!
