Man arrested wearing “fake” suicide vest

A man has been detained by Brussels police during an anti-terror operation at a shopping centre near to the Rogier Metro station.

The man, who is said to have been wearing a “Fake” suicide vest, was seen acting suspiciously by passers by at the City2 shopping mall, who alerted the Emergency services. Authorities sealed off the immediate vicinity, police and the bomb disposal team were then called in. Several of the entrances to the Rogier Metro station were also blocked off.

The Brussels prosecutors office said that no explosives have thus far been found at the scene confirming that “No bomb has so far been found” and that “The suicide vest found on a suspect was fake.”

Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel held an emergency national security meeting to discuss the operation. The man has been take in to Police custody.
