The Brussels Childbirth Trust (BCT) is a voluntary organisation which was set up in the 1970’s by Expat women who realised that young expectant women of the English speaking expat community of Belgium needed maternity advice and support in their own language. They set up the BCT along the same organisational lines of the UKs National Childbirth Trust. Today the BCT is bigger and stronger than it ever was with over 70 volunteers organising and providing maternity and childrearing information to over 1,200 Expat families. It is the only non-profit organisation in Belgium that supports families and parents-to-be from around the globe, providing lots of useful information, services and social activities, all under one umbrella. Noreen Donovan met with Sandra Drechsel the President of the BCT to find out exaclty what they do.
